Fiber Club Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Fiber Club ("we" or "us") collects, uses, and discloses information about you. This Privacy Policy applies when you use our website, mobile applications (collectively known as "services"), or otherwise interact with us.
We may change this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be noted with a revised date and we may also provide additional notifications on our website and/or mobile applications.
Data Safety and Collection
We collect information you provide to us when you fill out a form or otherwise communicate with us. The types of personal information we may collect include your name, email, bio, social media handles, and any other information you choose to provide.
We use a variety of security technologies and procedures for the purpose of preventing loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure of the Information. For example, in some of our Services, we use encryption technology to protect certain sensitive information provided by you to us. Please note that no data security measures can guarantee 100% security at all times. Our systems and the communications networks through which you access our services may be subject to security breaches and failures which are due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
We collect the following information:
- Personal Information - Name, Email Address, and User IDs. We collect this to be able to customize the app to your preferences, email you purchase receipts, and contact you in case we need to. We do not share this information with a third party.
- Financial Information - We save your purchase history on our servers to let you download patterns you purchased and to show you receipts.
- Device or other IDs - We collect information about how you access our services, including data about the device and network you use. This includes your hardware model, operating system, mobile network, IP address, browser type, and app version. We collect this to be able to generate analytics and crash reports to be able to fix bugs and to troubleshoot issues.
All information is encrypted in transit. For information about data deletion and retention, please see the "Account Deletion" and "Data Retention Periods" sections below.
Use of Data
The data we collect is used to provide, maintain and improve our services. Examples include:
- Communicating new content, products, services, and features
Sharing Data
We share personal information in the following circumstances:
- With vendors who need access in order to perform services for us. For example, companies that assist us with analytics and payment processing.
- If legally required to. For example, if a lawful request is made to disclose your personal information.
- Aggregated data may also be used in blogs to showcase trends.
Fiber Club does not sell your data.
Data Retention Periods
We retain different types of data for different periods based on legal requirements and business needs:
- Account information - Retained for 30 days after deletion request to allow for account recovery
- Purchase/transaction records - Retained for 7 years for tax compliance purposes
- Pattern access records - Retained to ensure continued customer access to purchased patterns
- Designer payout records - Retained for 10 years per IRS 1099 reporting requirements
- Usage analytics - Aggregated and anonymized, retained indefinitely
Account Deletion
For Regular Users
When you request account deletion, your account will be immediately deactivated. We maintain your data for a 30-day grace period during which you may reactivate your account. After this period, your personal information will be permanently deleted, except for purchase history which is retained for tax compliance and to ensure you maintain access to previously purchased patterns.
For Designers
Designer account deletion requires a 30-day notice period. During this time, we will notify customers who have purchased your patterns about the upcoming change. After deletion, your patterns will remain accessible to customers who previously purchased them. Tax records related to your designer payouts will be retained as required by law.
When We Cannot Fully Delete Your Data
Under GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations, there are certain circumstances where we may retain your data even after a deletion request:
- Legal compliance - We are required to retain tax records and financial transaction data for periods specified by law
- Contractual obligations - Customers who purchased patterns from designers have a right to continued access to those patterns, requiring us to maintain certain records
- Legitimate business interests - We may retain limited data for fraud protection and to defend against legal claims
- Anonymized data - Data that has been fully anonymized and cannot be linked back to you may be retained for analytics purposes
Additional Information for Designers
If you are a designer on Fiber Club, the following additional data retention policies apply to you:
- Tax information - Your W-9 or W-8 information and related tax documentation will be retained for 10 years as required by IRS regulations
- Payout information - Records of all payouts made to you will be retained for 10 years for 1099 reporting purposes
- Sales records - Records of pattern sales will be retained to support tax documentation and customer access rights
- Pattern files - Your pattern files will remain accessible to customers who purchased them, even after your account is deleted
Controlling Your Data
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access - You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction - You can request that we correct any inaccurate personal data
- Deletion - You can request deletion of your personal data, subject to the retention requirements described above
- Portability - You can request your data in a portable, machine-readable format
- Opt-out - You can opt out of marketing communications at any time
We will respond to all data rights requests within 30 days.
